Noticing the Signs and Symptoms

THINGS TO BE NOTED: Men and Women suffering from the above diseases may not necessarily show the symptoms of underweight or any such disorders.

Anorexia/Bulimia:

  1. Sudden decrease in the body weight within a very short period of time.
  2. Skipping meals or having small amounts of food at regular meals.
  3. Over care about weight gaining.
  4. Visiting websites that promote unhealthy ways to lose weight.
  5. Being sad or anxious.
  6. Having a poor body shape and low confidence.
  7. Headaches and Poor health.
  8. Obsessing over bad weight loss programs which involves continuous fasting for days.
  9. To eat large amounts of food in a shorter period of time and regretting it later (Bulimia).
  10. Planning a poor diet which does not involve enough nutrients but mainly focused on weight loss
  11. Always complaining on weight gain or food consumption.
  12. Often seen in girl teenager’s and women leading to loss of menstrual cycle accompanied with hair loss.
  13. Loss of proper food intake can lead to decrease in the consumption of fiber foods causing constipation and other problems related to excretion.
  14. Enamel erosion of tooth from contact with stomach acid during self induced vomiting.
  15. Other gastrointestinal problems like acid refluxes which on a long journey can lead to ulcers.
  16. Use of laxatives and diet pills which may lead to side effects.
  17. Cut or callused knuckles from self-induced vomiting.
  18. Exercise excessively and stressing over the fact of eating heavy meals.
  19. Frequent changes in mood.
  20. Weight fluctuations.
  21. Difficulty in concentrating.
  22. Visible bingeing and/or purging.

Compulsive Overeating/Binge Eating Disorder:

  1. Noticeable fluctuations in weight, both up and down.
  2. Skipping meals or having small amounts of food at regular meals.
  3. Exercise excessively and stressing over the fact of eating heavy meals.
  4. Having a poor body shape and low confidence.
  5. Frequent dieting.
  6. High blood pressure or high cholestral.
  7. Obsessing over food intake.
  8. Extreme mood swings.
  9. Self-esteem related to body image.
