The Cry
by: Kathi Yoder

You were my only friend many times.
When noone else bothered to understand me, you were there.
When people made fun of me, you were there.
You always made me feel loved.

Soon you bcame my only friend.
The only friend that I could ever rely on.
You accpeted me unconditionally.
You amazed me.

You soon began to run my life.
I was not able to think of anything other than you.
And that was what you wanted.
My only true friend was making me miserable.

The acceptance bcame cries in the night.
You made me hate you.
You made me hate me.
The acceptance became cries in the day.

You are trying so very hard to overtake me.
You have won many battles with me.
But I cried for help and He heard.
You will NOT win the war.

You have sapped the strength out of me too many times.
You have robbed me of family time too many times.
You have packed away my sanity in vain.
You are in for the fight of your life.

You will have to fight with everything that you have.
I am fighting with everything that I can muster.
You will NOT win this war.
I am beginning to love myself too much to let you win.
