The Courage and Connection Program
Recovery takes incredible courage. The Courage and Connection Program, a track of the Center for Women's Development Partial Hospitalization Program at Arbour-HRI Hospital, offers treatment of co-occurring psychiatric and eating disorders. This includes binge-eating, bulimia, anorexia and other eating disorders. The program provides strategies to help orient patients in the unfamiliar terrain of recovery as well as insight and skills to help them navigate it.Program goals include:To interrupt disordered behavior cyclesTo develop and practice of healthy eating strategiesTo connect patient with others struggling with similar issuesTo develop patient’s skills for managing difficult emotionsTo assist the patient in gaining insight into the recovery process. The Courage and Connection Program provides care for women of all body sizes who struggle with an unhealthy relationship with food and their body. Our clients are 18 years and older who need more support than outpatient care, or who are stepping down from an inpatient program. Participants must be medically stable and above 85% of their ideal body weight. In addition, there must be a primary care practitioner who monitors their medical condition regularly.The program staff is made up of qualified health care professionals committed to women’s health and wellness. This includes a psychiatrist, licensed social workers, mental health counselors, and nutritionists.
