Susie Morgan, MA, MA, LMFT, BCPC, DAPA, NCCM
I approach treatment from the perspective that genetics, temperament, and family dynamics influence a person's response to difficult experiences. In treating posttraumatic stress, mood disorders, anxiety, & eating disorders, I find that individuals have significant characteristics of resiliency and strength that have been overshadowed in attempts to cope with life stressors. My treatment process involves identifying and disrupting distorted response patterns in order to restore appropriate self-worth, realistic optimism, & relational health. I use therapeutic approaches that I've found clinically beneficial in creating change and are "evidenced-based," meaning that research has demonstrated their effectiveness. Foundational perspectives informing my work include the Gottman Institute relationship research, Love & LogicĀ® parenting strategies, and brain-based assessment and treatment planning through the Amen Clinic.
