Steve Orma, Psy.D.:: Therapy for Eating Disorders & Anxiety
Dr. Orma specializes in working with eating disorders: He helps adults (18+) overcome bulimia, anorexia, binge-eating disorder, and other body/weight issues through a supportive, structured, collaborative approach. He works with physicians, nutritionists, and other providers to coordinate a balanced approach to treatment. He is currently a staff psychologist at New Dawn Eating Disorders Recovery Center in Sausalito, CA.
Working supportively with individuals, Dr. Orma utilizes cognitive therapy - an active, skills-based approach that is scientifically validated as one of the most effective treatments for eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and other relevant issues. More specifically, Dr. Orma helps individuals identify how their negative thinking impacts their behavior and emotions. And, ultimately, how to replace those problematic thoughts and actions with more accurate and supportive ones.
