RECOVERY COACHINDIVIDUALIZED, RECOVERY FOCUSED, SERVICES FOR PEOPLE WITH EATING DISORDERSHallie Wallace, MSW, LCSWTel. 314.750.4441Email: recovery_coach@yahoo.comRecovery is PossibleAn eating disorder often challenges an individual’s ability to make healthy decisions, to act responsibly and to chart a safe course through life. The road to recovering from an eating disorder consists of many decisions and choices that need to be made on a daily basis. These are choices regarding food, exercise, socializing, work, and leisure activities. Individuals need to take on the difficult task of letting go of unhealthy habits, developing new behaviors and learning how to do daily tasks in a different way.At this challenging and important phase, having a trained, experienced, empathetic professional by your side can be extremely valuable. A recovery coach is truly right by your side because she joins you in your world, where your challenges are, and provides hands on assistance and support when you struggle. This close, practical assistance compliments and enhances the work of other care givers, like your therapist, dietician or psychiatrist and helps you avoid the many pitfalls that so commonly cause people to struggle with setbacks and relapse.Whether you have been in treatment for an eating disorder, or are just coming to terms with having an eating disorder, working with a recovery coach can help you.Services Provided§ Relapse prevention§ Practice Dining out§ Grocery shopping§ Assist in scheduling/organizing daily, weekly, monthly activities, appointments, and necessary tasks§ Attend initial therapy, nutritional counseling, or psychiatric appointments§ Assistance in disposal of unhealthy items (old clothes, scales, outdated medications)§ Clothes shopping§ Work out buddy§ Additional relevant services as requestedThese services are provided in two-hour blocks of time. I meet with the individual during the first session to set weekly goals for a four week period of time. Each week the goals and progress are re-evaluated. The services are individualized and can be utilized from one to five times per week, depending on the individual’s need. How this service is different: Real help in your real world.
