
Nancy J. Kolodny, M.A., M.S.W., L.C.S.W.
Nancy J. Kolodny, M.A., M.S.W., L.C.S.W. has worked as an eating disorder therapist since 1981; prior to that, she taught high school English. She is the author of When Food's A Foe: How to Confront and Conquer Eating Disorders (Little, Brown, 1987; Revised and Updated, 1992, 1996, 1998 in press), a book for teenagers and young adults that was chosen by Booklist as a Young Adult Nonfiction "Editor's Choice" for 1988, and by the New York Public Library for inclusion in Books for the Teen Age, 1988. It was also a selection of the Psychotherapy Book Club. She is a co-author of Smart Choices: A Guide to Surviving at Home and in School, Dating and Sex, Dealing with Crises, Applying to College, and more (Little, Brown, 1986; German edition, 1987) which was selected by the International Reading Association as a "Young Adult's Choice" book for 1988, and by the New York Public Library for inclusion in Books for the Teen Age, 1987 and 1988. She also co-authored How to Survive Your Adolescent's Adolescence (Little, Brown, 1984; trade paperback and Spanish editions, 1986) which was selected as a resource in 1986 by the National PTA and The March of Dimes, and by CBS Educational and Community Services in 1988. She lectures and conducts workshops about eating disorders, positive parenting, self esteem, communication skill-building, has been a consultant to Home Box Office and various television shows, and has appeared on television and radio in connection with her books. She is listed in Who's Who Among Human Service Professionals, Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World, Something About the Author, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and has achieved Full Member status in The Academy for Eating Disorders. She is the mother of three grown daughters.
