NYSPI Eating Disorders Research Unit at Columbia University
The Eating Disorders Clinic is part of the New York State Psychiatric Institute, located at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. We are a nationally recognized treatment/research program. The purpose of the clinic is to study Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Binge Eating Disorder in an effort to find more effective treatments for each. Since ours is a research program, we offer free treatment to eligible women who suffer from anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and to men and women who suffer from binge eating disorder. We have both inpatient and outpatient facilities, staffed by psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, recreational and occupational therapists, and research personnel, all with the training and experience in the treatment of eating disorders. Our funding is from federal and state grants, as well as private contributions.
