Karen M. Milo, Ph.D.
Dr. Milo has 18 years of experience treating adults with all types of eating disorders including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating and obesity. She believes strongly in a multidisciplinary approach and regularly consults with dieticians, psychiatrists, physicians and others, including many of her former colleagues at the University of South Florida where she was on the faculty for 13 years. She provides individual psychotherapy using cognitive-behavioral strategies that have proven effective in research studies, and motivational interviewing, interpersonal psychotherapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. She provides free group psychotherapy through USF's Hope House for Eating Disorders and consults with the founder, Dr. Pauline Powers who is world-renowned. Dr. Milo provides evaluations for gastric bypass candidates and psychotherapy post-surgically. She has lectured nationally on psychological aspects of eating and weight issues.
