Group Therapy for Women with Binge Eating and Bulimic Concerns
This group teaching coping skills (mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness) based on dialectical behavior therapy, incorporating coginitive-behavioral principles and strategies derived from Zen Buddhism.
We will teach ways for you to be fully aware of the present moment, particularly while eating; to regulate your emotions without overeating or engaging in other self injurious behaviors to feel better; to cope with crises, able to tolerate distress; and to be effective in interpersonal interactions.
This 12-session group will be held at the George Mason University Center for Psychological Services near the Fairfax campus.
The group is scheduled to begin early October, on Tuesday evenings. (This center also offers individual, couples, family, and group therapy for a variety of problems, just one of which is eating concerns. For other services, call 703-993-1370).
