Group Therapy for Women with Binge-Eating Concerns
This group teaches coping skills (mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness) for individuals who chronically overeat when upset. We will teach ways for you to be fully aware of the present moment, particularly while eating; to manage your emotions without overeating or engaging in other self-harming behaviors to feel better; to cope with crises and be able to tolerate distress; and to be effective in interactions with other people. This 12-session group will be held at the George Mason University Center for Psychological Services near the Fairfax campus. The group is scheduled to begin late February, on Tuesday evenings. (This center also offers individual, couples, family, and group therapy for a variety of problems, just one of which is eating concerns. For other services, call 703-993-1370).
