Eating Disorder Center of California
The Eating Disorder Center of California (EDCC) provides a supportive environment with all the necessary components to help eating disorder clients cope with the underlying issues, current stressors, and biochemical factors that cause them to binge, purge, starve, and/or compulsively exercise. We utilize a multi-disciplinary treatment approach in order to address all aspects related to an eating disorder: medical, nutritional, psychological, biochemical and behavioral. Our day treatment program, meets Monday through Friday, 11am - 7pm, providing clients with the necessary skills needed to implement and maintain a healthy, balanced lifestyle. Through comprehensive assessment and with feedback from clients and significant others, we develop an individualized treatment plan. Individualized treatment is an essential part of the program. Each client is assigned an individual therapist who they will meet with twice a week for individual and/or family therapy. Each client also meets with our psychiatrist and dietician for initial assessments and on-going weekly consultations. Our physician makes weekly on-site rounds to attend to any medical issues. If a client wishes to continue sessions with an outside therapist or psychiatrist, arrangements for this will be made through the clinical director. Our daily schedule includes a variety of group therapies and activities. Attention is directed toward creating a therapeutic milieu enabling clients to support each other in appropriate ways. Using psychodynamic, educational, cognitive-behavioral, and expressive group therapy formats, clients gain insight into their underlying eating disorder issues and interpersonal skill necessary for true and lasting recovery. Group Therapies offered: Contract/Goals Group, Cognitive-Behavioral Group, Primary Process Group, Multi-Family/Significant Others Group, Nutrition Group, Relapse Prevention, Special Topics: Body Image, Anger/Assertiveness, Intimacy, Relationships Other Activities Offered: Yoga, Art Therapy, Supervised Meals (staff eats with clients), Restaurant Outings
