Chrysalis Intensive Group Treatment Program
Facing an eating disorder can be a frightening experience for individuals and their families. This program offers help in recovering from anorexia, bulimia, and overeating disorders.The Chrysalis program is an intensive group treatment program designed for individuals who require additional care for eating disorders beyond that typically offered in 1 to 3 hours of individual and group therapy per week. Located in the historic district of Denton, Texas, the program can be completed while continuing work or school. Chrysalis is a 12-week intensive program that features 8 hours of group therapy per week, including:Ø 2 hours of psychoeducationØ 2 hours of therapeutic mealsØ 4 hours of group therapy, including separate groups for parents and/or partners at intervalsThe program is based on a learning model of growth, and focuses on issues such as eating, body image, relationships, and wellness. Psycho-educational classes include: nutrition and meal-planning, body image, communication, conflict resolution, stress reduction, and self-care. Thera-peutic meals are intended to assist individuals in learning and practicing healthy new eating behaviors. Group therapy hours are devoted to eating disorder recovery topics, in addition to individual and interpersonal growth. Clients complete 6 weeks of the Chrysalis program and 6 weeks of formal aftercare. This program is designed around the specific needs and issues impacting teenaged girls, college-aged and adult women, and their families.
