BEST Support Group
BEST stands for Bulimic Education and Support Training. BEST is a peer support group for people suffering from bulimia and related eating disorders and for their support people. FORMAT: We have a two hour format. We meet on Wednesday nights from 7-9pm at 1905 W. Wisconsin Ave. (Redeemer Lutheran Church) The first hour is our eucational presentation when we hear information on a topic related to ed's and general wellness. The second hour is our discussion time where we have a chance to talk about our feelings. FOUR PRONGED APPROACH To RECOVERY: Medical and dental assessment with professional with whom we are being honest about our eating disordered behaviors.(2) Working with a psychotherapist who has good knowledge of eating disorder issues.(3)Working with a registered dietician who has good knowledge of the emotional aspects of eating disorder issues and how it relates to food.(4) Peer group support where you can be honest and gain feedback and support.
