Half-Empty Half-Full Game
by: Tony Medina

Almost any given situation or statement in life can be looked at as negative or as positive. A lot of times we fall in the "negativity" trap because its easier or safer... with that in mind...

Read the following simple poem:

    The bird in the sky
    Flies oh so high
    alone

Now answer the following questions...

  1. Why is it a happy poem?
  2. Why is it a sad poem?

Then... Name one situation or statement in your life that you looked at negatively that you could have looked at more positively.

Always remember... there are no losers in any of these games!

You can write your answer down in your journal, or explore them with your therapist or support group. If you haven't started a recovery journal yet, now's the time to start!
