RESEARCH: GENES AND EATING DISORDERS

The National Institute of Mental Health is sponsoring a multicenter, international study seeking to determine whether a gene or genes might predispose individuals to develop anorexia nervosa. They need families with at least two members who have or had anorexia nervosa, and who would be willing to participate. The study involves the completion of interviews, questionnaires and a blood draw. Participants do not need to travel and will be paid upon completion of the study. CALL FOR ARTWORK

Ophelia's Place, one of the member organizations of the Eating Disorders Coalition, is in hopes of creating a calendar that consists solely of artwork created by those who suffer including family and friends. The artwork could be anything from poetry to painting, each month honoring a new creation. The monthly calendar would also consist of National Organizations events and resources. A national committee will be formed that will be dedicated to the representation of this calendar, fundraising and proceed decision making. We are in hopes of generating a new voice for those who suffer.. by those who suffer.

Artwork submissions and questions can be emailed to: artistvibe23@msn.com
Submission deadline: August 31,2003
