CEDRIC CENTRE'S ENCOUNTERS WITH DOCTORS SURVEY

The object of this study is to gain direct feedback from people with eating disorders regarding their encounters with doctors. The data collected from the survey will help support a study on the topic. We ask that anyone filling out the survey answer as accurately as they can. The survey is brief, a combination of automatic responses and written answers to queries. Results of the survey will be kept confidential. Data will be stored securely and will be made available only to persons conducting the study unless participants specifically give permission in writing to do otherwise. No reference will be made in oral or written reports which could link participants to the study.

If you are interested in taking this survey, please follow the below link to the Cedric Centre Website.

PARTICIPANTS SOUGHT FOR ADOLESCENT BINGE EATING STUDY

Adolescent Caucasian females (ages 13-18) with BINGE EATING DISORDER and their parents are sought for participation in a graduate research project on the adolescent-parent relationship. Participants must live in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. Participation will include a family interview about mealtime issues, a demographics questionnaire, and a short binge eating questionnaire. This study will fulfill the requirements of my doctoral dissertation. Each family will be provided with a $60 dollar stipend for their participation. A summary of the findings of the research will be provided to those who indicate that they want it. As very little research exists on BINGE EATING DISORDER, your participation would really help to further the knowledge and treatment of this disorder. Your participation is voluntary.

For more detailed information, adolescents or parents may respond to the Adolescent Binge Eating Study by calling Beth at (415) 652-4943 or sending an email to adolescent_binge_eating_study@yahoo.com with your name, phone number, and the best time to reach you. Thank you.

TRAINING: THE BODY SPEAKS OF TRAUMA: EATING PROBLEMS, SELF-INJURY, BODY-MODIFICATIONS

Sharon K. Farber, PhD. is teaching this week-long course at the Cape Cod Institute.
Date: August 23-27, 2004
"When the body weeps tears of blood, we need to wonder what terrible sorrows cannot be spoken. When food that had tasted good suddenly feels like poison and has to be purged from the body, we should wonder what traumatic experiences exist that cannot be contained, metabolized, and integrated. . . . The body speaks of that which cannot be said in words, of secrets, lies, and trust that has been broken." Sharon K. Farber

Contact information for registration: 1-888-394-9293. For more specific information about the course, Dr. Farber can be reached at 914-478-1924.
